Having worked on broadcast sites for over 20 years, I'll suggest that it is
possible, but that this application sounds suspect in unrelated other ways.
I've seen a 4" copper ground strap cause an increase rather than decrease in
RF pickup in some mixers. In some circumstances several feet of 4" ground
strap can have a differential from end to end of several hundred volts of RF.
Grounds of all kinds can under some circumstances act as antennae.
