subject: MM Linux editor preff...

Seeing as I am talking to myself, I thought I'd give myself an update. ;-]

I'll ">" the first line to new progress.

I'm wondering if there is a general preference to a Linux editor
while in Multi-Mail? emacs is doing the job, but I'm more used to DOS's
Q-edit. Anything closer to that? Please: vi, and vim are not even on my radar.

Mostly, I can't seem to find the docs. I installed from an ELF
version. I have a DOS install, so I'm trying to scour those when I
can. Until then, I have a few pressing issues - I hope I don't barrage
here. I'm so new to the OS, that most of my issues might be
simplistic, or better asked on a Linux echo?

1.) RE: Spell check.
> Read the DOS docs. Found the seil chunker! This is actually closer
to the way I first learned to do it.

2.a) RE: "Unrecognized keyword: $" in gterm. (I think.)
2.b) RE: shifted font/ANSII display hodge-podge. Console only.
> Noticed 2.a is also displayed when first starting in X.
> 2.b That "funkey ANSII shift" happens with other graphic console
apps. I've posted the question on Linux, if you'd rather post there.

3.) Read Markers don't seem to be saved. "zip -jkq" is the default
compression, Permission are likely all wonky, as I mentioned I'm quite
new to Linux.

4.) I've only run MM as root so far, but am a little foggy about how to
run it as a normal user. Shouldn't the mmail directory go in something
like /usr/share or some-such?

Like I say, I'm trying to read the DOS docs when the hip allows. These
seem to be augmented *NIX manuals to satisfy DOS installs?

... Thanks in advance. James
