Geez! > Ib> The one thing I remember most from my days in the trenches at the PC Ib> shop I used to work for... working on Toshiba Satellites (do they still Ib> use the Satellite name on their notebooks?) Oh, and also lots of Compaq Ib> laptops (shudder!) Funny thing is I have an old Compaq Presario laptop Ib> (K6-2+ 400MHz) that works pretty darn well. However, I have a Hewlett Ib> Packard laptop (P4 mobile 1.7GHz) that I used regularly and that has Ib> been a NICE laptop. Bought it off one of my clients 'cause he said it Ib> was crap. I've never had a problem with it. (PEBKAC and I knew it -- My Ib> gain!) Yea, but you forgot to mention the clients pissing and moaning that you haven't returned their systems... and you know you shouldn't mention that the new part was defective, cause then its your fault they bought the damn thing in the first place. Now they know they bought a POS, and its your fault... even though you had nothing to do with it... They bought the damn thing from Best Buy... I didn't tell them to... But I'm their computer guy and I should have "Warned" them. Yea, like how the hell am I supposed to do that? I've hears all the above many times. Ib> He bought a new Dell laptop w/ widescreen and paid like $3000 for it. Ib> The HP was a little over a year old when I bought it from him 2 years Ib> ago and I only gave him $500 for it and received it with an extra Ib> battery and charger he didn't tell me about! :) I've been in that situation a number of times... My favorite is when the HD dies in the notebook. It not hard to replace, but, they've lost confidence in the system, so they go buy a new one and I get the old. $50-100 bucks invested in a new HD, a few hours of labor and I got a nice system.
