While listening to Dave Hatch Pete heard:[NEWS] 56kps analog modem
G'day Dave
ML> second (bps) modem technology that Hayes and US Robotics are
ML> touting is not as flexible as a standard V.34 (28,800 bits per
ML> second) analog
LE> $0.20 (my standard silly bet) says it's half-duplex.
DH> Which if true, means it should be as rugged as blazes.
DH> Full duplex echo canceling has to rank as the single dumbest
DH> stunt a design committee ever pulled.
And if true will really pull the rug out from under Telstra with their
echo canceller triggered timed calls for modems effort.
Now all we have to do is wait till the year 2010 for the austel
version of the code. :-(
I feel any future modems i purchase will be non Austel approved.
Pete.
