(Continued from previous message)

hams, it allows the Sysop to grant access to his TNC to hams on the
BBS, to get to the area packet network.

The doors were done by the late Dave Perry, W4KGU (SK), and they don't
have a fossil driver. So, to use them on a telnet BBS, you have to
either run Synchronet (with the DOSXTRN utility), or with the Doorway
Utility (originally by Marshall Dudley, now by Mike Ehlert), and a
special VScript under Virtual Advanced, which is what I have. They work
fine under dial-up, though.

The other doors Dave did included BULLET (a bulletins door with 26
categories, but it can be used for other things besides ham radio
items), REGSCAN (Part 97 FCC Rules), QRZDOOR (requires a data CD of the
QRZ DOS lookup, and a CALLBK directory of the datafiles...however, those
are being phased out, so if one didn't get a database subscription
before 2014, they're out of luck, unless they have an older copy of the
QRZ CD)...and as noted above, WASPORT (Worked All States Awards Door,
tracking ones progress on HF, digital and special modes), and ARPD
(Amateur Radio Packet Door).
