Do you remember the song with the line "video killed the radio
star"? Well television killed the movie star (system). Hollywood in
the 50s and 60s was vastly different than in the years before. The
"studio system" was forever dead and gone. There could never
again be a Joan Crawford or Jimmy Stewart and not just because stars today
can't act. :)
