I have a closet full of old computers, and each time I pull one out it
boots up just as good as the first day I bought it. But I also have a
shelf in my garage with machines that've died over the years. I'd have
thrown them out years ago, but the cases are still good, plus our trash
folks won't pick them up.
The computers in my closet are two Tandy TRS-80's, an original Apple II,
Commodore Amiga 500, Mac Classic, and a Mac Performa somethingoranother.
All still boot fine save for some corrupt floppies. As for the garage, I
have a P-600 I bought around 2000, a P-800 I bought from ebay about 3 years
ago, and a dual P3-1ghz system someplace. All of these might work with
some replacement parts (HD, mobo, memory, etc), they're mainly on standby
incase I need a linux box or Win box for some reason.
FOr me personally though, my main box is a Powermac G4 (dual-867 GHz with 1
Gig ram) and BBS is a Dell Optiplex Gx1 (600Mhz with 128 Megs/RAM).
See ya :)
