FIDONET ECHOMAIL CONFERENCES
FidoNet Echomail conference offer a tremendous resource. In brief,
an Echomail conference is a message base that is shared among several
Bulletin Boards nationwide. For example, a message you enter on a BBS
in New York may be read and replied to by someone in California.
             * Discussion and Issue oriented Conferences *
VFALSAC
Moderated by Bob Hirschfeld, this conference deals with issues of
false allegations of abuse. Conference participants often include
active members of VOCAL and other such advocacy groups.
FMS
Moderated by David Bloomberg, this conference deals primarily with the
issues of False Memory Syndrome, but often extends itself to include
discussions of Ritual Child Abuse, as well as false allegations of
abuse.
CHILD_ABUSE_ISSUES
Moderated by Rick Thoma, this conference is open to social workers,
teachers, parents, and all concerned with the difficult issues
surrounding child abuse and neglect. While not primarily oriented
toward discussions of false allegations, the topic is considered as
well within the realm of the conference topic by its moderator.
VOCAL
Moderated by Valery Frosty, of the California VOCAL chapter. This
conference is officially recognized by the National Association of
State Vocal Organizations, and it promises to serve as a reliable and
continued source of information regarding false allegations of abuse.
BIRTHMOTHERS
Moderated by Dave Warwick, this conference deals with the issues of
adoption as it relates to the rights of the birth parents. Ads for
this conference typically include references to coercion, as regards
the reason some Birthmothers have cited for having given away their
child or children.
ADOPTEES
This conference serves primarily as a support group in terms of its
participants joining to help each other locate their natural parents.
There would appear to be some discussion regarding these now adults as
having been "placed" by social services agencies as children.
FOSTER
Co-moderated by Faye Johnson and Dave Storey, this is a new and
welcome addition to the list of Fidonet conferences. All aspects of
Foster Care are discussed.
                   * Survivor Support Conferences *
PLEASE
This conference serves primarily as a support group for survivors of
child abuse. While some issue oriented discussion may take place, as
a rule it is suggested that issue oriented discussions ought take
place in more appropriate forums.
CHILD_ABUSE
Moderated by Michelle Chartrand and Jennifer Motram, this conference
serves primarily as a support group for survivors of child abuse, as
does PLEASE. While some issue oriented discussion may take place, as
a rule it is suggested that issue oriented discussions ought take
place in more appropriate forums.
SRA
Moderated by Barb Murphy, and someone with the cryptic name of
"Mattman," this conference serves primarily as a support group for
survivors of Ritual Child Abuse. While some issue oriented discussion
may take place, as a rule it is suggested that issue oriented
discussions ought take place in more appropriate forums.
This article is still being developed. Several additional listings
are soon to be added. Look for the addition of several World Wide Web
Internet sites, as well as several other BBS, Telnet, and other sites.
