JB> Has anyone been listening to Obama's claim that he will
JB> lower taxes on 95% of working families ? The problem with
JB> that claim is that 95% of the working families do not pay
 JB> income taxes.

Which is false from the git-go. Tax payments start with an AGI
of $10,000. That covers a lot of people.

JB> So next I am sure some wide-eyed liberal will point out
JB> that he may be talking about FICA (Social Security tax).
JB> The problem with that argument is that the liberals will
JB> say that FICA is not a tax. It is a

Double strawman. I don't know a single liberal who said that.

JB> Ahh, we see the words "payroll tax". What exactly is that
JB> ? When I look at my paycheck stub, I see nothing called
 JB> "payroll tax". So he

Those who know about the subject don't need that explanation.

JB> So now we start giving people money back their FICA tax
JB> before it goes into the system (i.e. they pay it in and we
JB> give it right back to them).

 Third strawman this msg.

JB> So the money they get at
JB> retirement is no longer representative of what they paid in
JB> but in fact now a government retirement system that is
JB> basically welfare and another disguised wealth
 JB> redistribution ploy.

And the conclusion drawn from the strawman.

JB> And where does the money come from ? Well the wealthy, of
 JB> course.

 Ah, the strawman continues.

JB> Now if I am not mistaken Wall Street was often
JB> considered the haven of the wealthy. And didn't this
JB> current credit crunch issue arise from the fact that the
JB> government forced these wealthy people to fund affordable
JB> housing for the poor (i.e. another form of wealth
 JB> redistribution) ? And

Well... no. This credit crunch arose from the wealthy getting
regulations taken off their wealth redistribution schemes. From
 the working people to them.

JB> plan plays out long term. As you do, remember that only 50%
JB> of the people in this country pay income taxes. He's
 JB> trying to drive this

As you do, remember that only 50% of the people in this country
are in the labor force. Or, if you count from age 16 and up,
65%. Which means that 50% is actually the large majority of the
people who work. The try to figure in the illegal aliens, who
McCain wants to legalize, and the figures get all skewed.

BTW, that 50% of people who do pay income taxes shows the
falsehood of the claim above that 95% of families don't pay
income taxes. The 50% of people who do are greatly in families
in which some members do not pay personally, but some do.

JB> number down smaller. And did you notice his total
JB> resistance to cutting any government spending during the
 JB> debate ?

Obama wants to cut govt spending. The biggest money drain is the
war in Iraq, which Obama wants to end, but McCain has not
expressed any real interest in ending.

And Bush wants to run up govt spending drasticall, and all at
once. No plan to cut or expand govt spending means anything
without solving the problem of the current market collapse and
 the bailouts attached to that.
