It was errors on bath parts...  They didn't bother to inform me of what their
uucp name was - I guessed wrong.  I did have my login and password OK, but I
wasn't aware that all this impacted my uucp name as well...

Just a few minor glitches...  For me, stepping up the log level helped
considerably.

If that just happens occasionally, seems like it might be related to a
not-so-good connection, perhaps a connect without error correction...

On my Motorola (Power 28), factory defaults &F1 give it:

            \N7  LAPM with MNP and normal fallback

... I use instead:

            \N6  LAPM with MNP fallback

... it disconnects if I don't get an error-correcting connection.  The "Normal
fallback" stuff can lead to problems like faulty characters being transmitted
durine login and password sequences...
