JB> THEY GAVE YOUR MORTGAGE TO A LESS QUALIFIED MINORITY
 JB> September 24, 2008

That's all you had to see to know this is a blatant appeal to
 racism.

 ...

JB> was celebrated lawyer Robert Bennett, most famous for

Bennett may be more accurately described as a political
 operative and an incompetent lawyer.

 ...

JB> currently roiling the financial markets. This crisis was
JB> caused by political correctness being forced on the
JB> mortgage lending industry in the Clinton era.

JB> Before the Democrats' affirmative action lending policies
JB> became an embarrassment, the Los Angeles Times reported
 JB> that, starting in 1992, a majority-Democratic Congress
JB> "mandated that Fannie and Freddie increase their purchases
JB> of mortgages for low-income and medium-income borrowers.

And the fact that Coulter interprets that as minorities is
enough evidence of her bigotry ploy. There are far more low and
 medium income whites than minorities.

JB> Operating under that requirement, Fannie Mae, in
JB> particular, has been aggressive and creative in stimulating
 JB> minority gains."

JB> Under Clinton, the entire federal government put massive
JB> pressure on banks to grant more mortgages to the poor and

 ...

JB> minorities. Clinton's secretary of Housing and Urban
JB> Development, Andrew Cuomo, investigated Fannie Mae for
JB> racial discrimination and proposed that 50 percent of
JB> Fannie Mae's and Freddie Mac's portfolio be made up of
JB> loans to low- to moderate-income borrowers by the year 2001.
JB> Instead of looking at "outdated criteria," such as the
 JB> mortgage

Of course, that would mostly be white people, but what would
 Coulter know?

JB> applicant's credit history and ability to make a down
JB> payment, banks were encouraged to consider nontraditional
JB> measures of credit- worthiness, such as having a good jump
JB> shot or having a missing child named "Caylee."

 Ah, the bigotry gets blatant.

JB> Threatening lawsuits, Clinton's Federal Reserve demanded
JB> that banks treat welfare payments and unemployment benefits
JB> as valid income sources to qualify for a mortgage. That
 JB> isn't a joke -- it's a fact.

If it is, maybe Coulter could back it up.

JB> When Democrats controlled both the executive and
JB> legislative branches, political correctness was given a
JB> veto over sound business practices.

Which was two years out of the last 28. And that in the early
 '90s.

JB> In 1999, liberals were bragging about extending affirmative
JB> action to the financial sector. Los Angeles Times reporter

Coulter juxtapositions this with the preceeding to give a false
impression. In 1999 republicans controlled congress. Both
 houses.

JB> Ron Brownstein hailed the Clinton administration's
JB> affirmative action lending policies as one of the "hidden
JB> success stories" of the Clinton administration, saying that
JB> "black and Latino homeownership has surged to the highest
 JB> level ever recorded."

I found that sort of comment also in 2004, about the Bush
administration. It was part of a defense of the Bush
administration against claims that Black economic gains of the
'90s were being lost under Bush. If black and Latin home
ownership increase year after year, then every year they will be
 at record highs.

I also found the claim in 2006 in a blog discussion among blacks
in defense of blacks against accusations against them, and on
 Rightwinged.com also in 2006.

 ...

JB> Political correctness had already ruined education, sports,
JB> science and entertainment. But it took a Democratic
JB> president with a Democratic congress for political
JB> correctness to wreck the financial industry.

And this part is so blatantly racist you should be ashamed to
post it. Now how anyone figures letting blacks into sports and
entertainment has ruined anything is beyond belief. However,
even the claim that it has ruined science and education is even
further outrageous. What is hurting science is the Bush
administration appointing political commisars over scientific
 agencies.
