SM> Has anyone had trouble with modems dropping out while they SM> are on the same line as one of those Telstra touch tone SM> phone things, 200r I think it is but, anyhow anyone had SM> that trouble ? Yes, hundreds of people have. It's not so common nowadays, as most of the 'bad' phones are probably out of commission by now. The early ones with those dinky 'bubble' buttons were the worst, though some of the earlier raised rubber button ones are crook, too. You should be able to take the phone to your Telstra business office and get a free replacement (if that _is_ your problem, and it's a rented phone); I had two replaced that way, no further questions asked. If it works better with it disconnected, that's fair enough evidence that it's the phone that's crook. Generally speaking, it's best to run modems with nothing else connected to the line at all. You might be able to get a 'mode 3' connector for your modem, which switches the phone out of circuit as soon as the modem picks up the line; mine has that built in, but most cheaper modems don't. What's yours?
