i have used a regular cb antenna for a scanner antenna...i have a cb in my 
car, bought a splitter so i can use the scanner or cb without disconnecting 
any coax...it seems to work well with my scanner (pro-51)....i'm not sure as 
to what freqs it may be bringing it much clearer, but overall i seem to be 
receiving a bit more than i do with the provided rubber ducky.
