In all fairness, once a windows version is released (on the NT line,
where there is actually a "kernel"), once they go live, the kernel really
doesn't get updated much, if at all... afaik the 2K kernel is the same
as the release version, and the XP kernel is as well.. iirc NT4 SP3 or
4 had an update, but I may be mistaken there...

Windows is designed to not require kernel updates for improved/newer
hardware support... where most linux drivers, and distros are designed
with this level of integration in mind... yet another reason, I like
the BSD mindset a little better than linux...
