I can't remember what we were originally talking about, something about connecting two machines via serial ports, or was it maybe concentration ? VMODEM is part of Ray Gwinn's SIO enhanced serial drivers for OS/2. It emulates a modem over any TCP/IP network, providing a limited AT command set. Because of the nature of the underlying protocol, you can squeeze as many comms lines down the one SLIP or LAN link as you like (theoretically). At each end, the software thinks it's talking to a regular modem. The example Ray's doc gives is for running a BBS using standard BBS software, into which people can "dial" over the net using telnet. There's no reason why you can't use vmodem over a LAN or SLIP serial link. -- Lewin A.R.W.
