My little sister wanted one but my parents poo-pooed that idea.  She had to
settle for me taking her to a stable that was within hiking distance of our
home.  That one closed down when the city grew and later when I was old
enough to get a drivers license I took her to a different one.  The parents
financed that too and it also made it much easier for me to borrow the car
for me to go tomcatting every once and awhile.  :-)
