following up a message from Erik Wachtmeester to All:
 EW> type(nPrivVar) should return 'U' if nPrivVar isn't declared, if I'm

 EW> type(&nPrivVar) and valtype(&nPrivVar) ), and all came up with the

Never mind, I already found it out: memvarblock('nPrivVar') returns NIL if 
he
variable isn't declared. And that's exactly what I was looking for... ;-)
