subject: Veterans day

I wrote this in my blog today.

Today is Veterans Day. It is a day to remember those who have give so much
to help ensure that we live in a free country and that people around the
world can also be free.

This day used to be known as Armistice Day. It is the 90th anniversary of
the Armistice that ended WWI (The Great War). The 11th hour of the 11th day
of the 11th month of 1918 the Armistice was signed in Versalles, France. It
was called the war to end all wars. It wasn't more than 20 years that that
promise was broken.

In recent years we have turned the day into a day of thanks and reflection
about those brave men who have fought in the many wars since. If you have
the opportunity today, go out and thank a random military person or the
veteran in your family or circle of friends. Lately some of them have been
maligned for no fault of their own. They are doing their job and they do it
well.

Regardless of whether you agree with the current conflicts our brave men in
arms are engaged in say a prayer for them and their safe return. Also say a
special prayer for those who have given their all and for those who love
them.
_____

Thank you all you who have served. I pray all of you are well and I have
said a special prayer for those who we have lost here in FIDO. God Bless
you all.

Ed
