 SF> Greetings:
SF> I am having a great deal of trouble running Qmpro 1.53 (DOS)
SF> under Windows 95. I get as far as Qmpro loading, getting to the
SF> terminal screen, and then when it tries to initialize the modem it
SF> craps out. Normally under DOS I would see:
 SF> +-----------------------------------------------------------
 SF> -----------------+
 SF> |QmodemPro 1.53 Compiled 09/12/94

SF> |You are now in TERMINAL mode

SF> Now, ATZ doesn't even echo onto the screen and the system
SF> freezes. I have tried this in every mode. (E.G. "Do not recognize
SF> Windows", Suggest Windows when necessary", "DOS mode", etc.). I have
SF> successfully run it in DOS mode but then I am unable to multitask,
SF> etc.. I would very much like to run it from within Windows as a
SF> background process (download in the background, etc.). A brief
SF> description of my system configuration follows: Also, I am alerted of
SF> the problem when the session is suspended and Windows tells me there is
 SF> a conflict of Interrupt 4.
 SF> IBM Microchannel PS/2 486-50
 SF> COM1=03F8 & IRQ 4
 SF> 16550 UART
 SF> USR HST 14.4 Courier v.42 external
 SF> Qmpro 1.53 for DOS
My first suggestion would be to try Windows Hyperterminal. If that does
not
work then I would move your modem to com 2. IRQ 3 and set up Qmpro for
om2
Irq 3. Because your problem sounds like a IRQ conflict. I have used Qmpro
153
under windows 95 with no problems. Except I could not download in the
background
toooooooo many CRC errors. But it would work great when it was in the
Front.
Since you have a PS/2 I would assume that your mouse IRQ is redirected to
IRQ 9 or 12 I cant remember which one. So your mouse should not be a
problem.
   Good Luck
   Ken
