I think I'd leave it up to the children.. give them an option.  Aaron has the 
option of returning to school at certain times during the school year -- I 
think this is built into the homestudy program that the school district has 
set up... in case they think the homestudy isn't progressing well.  Last year 
when my son was in public school Kindergarten he requested to leave half way
through the year and it worked out well for us.  
I know Donna will do what's best for her kids.. :)
