Dear Gerard,
We at the Diergaarde Blijdorp Rotterdam use our member database (Clipper
.2e,
Exospace) on a Novell Intranetware 4.11 server with Windows 95 clients in
om-
bination with the Novell Client 32 V2.xx and the latest version of the NAL.
We used the sIX RDD as well. There are no problems with file handles: in the
net.cfg in the Novell directory on the local machines i set FILE HANDLES=110
and in the LOGIN script on the container i put the rule SET CLIPPER=F:120
E:00.
Everything works well, although i must say that our old 3.12 network with the
ODI drivers was a little bit faster than the new Win95 machines with the
Client
32 or the VLM client with DOS.
When you use the compound indexes (.CDX) with the sIX RDD you only have ONE
filehandle per .CDX file, although you have i.e. 15 indexes in that .CDX.
Greetings,
Frans van Bommel
