-CO> It sounded better than the local cell carriers in this

-CO> have good fidelity and are well built. The units were
-CO> motorola units and
-CO> looked nice. I like the concept behind their service. It
-CO> could be
-CO> expensive, but the dispatch feature is something the other
-CO> carriers are
-CO> not offering at all in this area.

Let's hear about that dispatch feature, I haven't heard or read anything
about it yet.
-CO> This is an interesting idea. I do not think they offer an
-CO> option like
-CO> that, but will ask next time I speak to my representative.
I would test the system before committing too much money to it. I called
Nextel again today, they had sent me out info before but didn't include a
coverage area map.
-CO> no carrier in the Philadelphia offers free air time. You
-CO> get time you
-CO> purchase on your plan, but no free time. After all all of
-CO> the companies
-CO> are trying to make as much as possible. When I lived in St.
-CO> Louis one
-CO> company was offering free time on evenings and weekends.
-CO> They no longer
-CO> do either.
Hmmm, that's too bad, both 850 mHz carriers in this market offer plans with
free offpeak. It's nice to have, I save a lot of money using the cellular
after 7pm instead of the regular LL phone.
-CO> Nextel doesn't have a roaming charge. The rates are the
-CO> same throughout
-CO> their network from anywhere. You can make calls locally in
-CO> whatever area
-CO> you are in and you will always pay the same charge as if
-CO> you lived
-CO> there. In this area one can consider Washington DC\.C.
-CO> local as well as
-CO> Baltimore and Atlantic City. This is a far larger area than
-CO> all the
-CO> other companies I have checked out. In other words if my
-CO> friend Dan were
-CO> to drive to washington, he can still talk to me in
-CO> Philadelphia on the
-CO> dispatch function or he can call anywhere in either city as
-CO> a local call
-CO> because it is part of the local DAT. I believe that is the
-CO> term I was
-CO> told.
Interesting, thanks for the info.
