John Allen,

There are people who like open baffle speakers, for example, who care
a lot really, based on transient response. A SigTech-nician on one or 2 of
the rec.audio groups had some definite opinions based on his job instal-
ling (I think I read over a thousand of) their units.

You have the top Carver subwoofer, right? I didn't know there'd been
an upgrade but it was a little more than "polite" anyway, heh heh, or so I
read. It probably makes sense using the same brand subs as your main
speakers, for many of us trying to shop for something, though it's not
any kind of rule.
I got to hear and adjust levels on about a half dozen subs and maybe
twice as many mains pairs for the first time late in '96, and the best
of the lot were the largest JBL sub and a pair of JBL satellites spec'd
for use outdoors.

Some people consider them good luck.
