What sucks is that this whole problem is semantics. I seriously doubt that
the proposition would have failed if, instead of calling the union a
marriage, they called it a civil union. I doubt that many people would
object to same sex unions if they weren't called marriages.

On the good side we passed a bond measure to create high speed electric
passenger trains between NorCal and SoCal. The most heavily populated parts
of the state have wonderful transit systems, but if one wants to go from
Orange County to San Diego County one must spend a great amount of money to
use AmTrak or drive or (grimace) ride the Greyhound.
