I found out that I wasn't using my (Radio Shack) freq. counter all that
much, so I decided it was time to utilize it to my benefit. I bought a
"Pana-Vise" cellular mounting kit, and with the use of velcro and cable
ties, securely affixed the 'counter in my car. I connected it to a dual
band VHF/UHF mobile antenna (although a standard VHF whip worked fine)
and got the rechargeable batteries connected to a charger/eliminator.
This thing is really cool (now in the car)! I can get hits from as far
as 3-5 blocks away on known signals, and of course pick up all kinds of
cellular and mobile data hits. Although the RS counter isn't that
fantastic, with a hold button mod it is great to have as an addition to
your mobile scanner for unknown RF in your travels.
