 DR> Hi All;
DR> My ISP is changing equipment and going to I believe a PAP only
DR> setup, no login script (not to sure about the PAP only part yet)
DR> What I'd like to know is how to setup OS/2 with PAP.
DR> I use PPP PPDIAL29.ZIP to connect to my ISP
DR> and launch it from the
DR> command line using an .rsp file for the
 DR> script. I have a file called
DR> pppdoc that talks about PAP but haven't made
DR> much sense of it yet.
DR> It talks about a secrets file but without an example I'm afraid
 DR> it's still a "secret" to me!
DR> If anyone is connecting Warp 3.0 with an ISP
DR> using PAP can you point
DR> me in the right direction? If your not using
 DR> PPPDIAL could you tell
DR> me what software your using for a PAP connect?
 DAC> ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^I did it easily
 DAC> with the IAK's DOIP.............just enter
DAC> all the usual info for a
DAC> ppp connection, but specify NO LOGIN
 DAC> SEQUENCE.......Dial away & it does
 DAC> the rest for you!!!!!!!!!!!
DR> Well shoot! Works just like you said it
DR> does! I have an account on NetINS that uses PAP. Tried it and it
DR> worked! Took three tries however. I seem to have had the Dial Other
DR> Internet Providers (DOIP) of the Internet Access Kit (IAK) do that
DR> to me when I used the DOIP (Give you errors like crazy, then just
DR> try it again and all is well). Trouble is I don't use it at all
 DR> now.
DR> As I said I launch all my PPP connects from the command line (with
DR> PPPDIAL29 handling my redial and script for me). I do this so that
DR> My BBS front end mailer can drop out call my ISP and FTP FidoNet
DR> mail packets automatically twice per day. So if you know how to do
DR> it with ppp.exe. I'd sure like to know!
DR> But thanks for the Info about DOIP I know of someone that will
 DR> benefit from that one!
                               There's a shareware drop-in type replacement
for DOIP called "ILINK1_2.zip"...freqable from me @ 1:365/3253 or you can get
it on the internet from www.bmtmicro.com ..

This program does the PAP & RE-dialing and.....YOU can start/launch
from command-line after dropping from mailer,etc.....I do use it myself
for my fido feed(vmodem-telnet link with binkleyterm).....pulling as much as
5 to 10 megs per day of echomail/file-echo traffic.
