Yes, Ottawa's Net163 closed down at the end of August, but Don had
stayed with Net249 after leaving Kingston. So, by default, I guess
Net249 also covers the Ottawa area. Not that Net249 is really set up
to serve that area, it's more just an accident.

Meanwhile, Carlton Place is one of the "bedroom communities" around
Ottawa. Since Don works in Ottawa, I think of him as actually living
in that municipality as well. I should watch that habit, or some
"small town pride" advocate will be after me.

Oh right, Robert is an Internet Only Node who started a telnet BBS
when he returned to FidoNet. In the "isn't it a small world"
department, Robert is a former Net249 member from when he was running
a dial-up BBS here in Kingston. I was wondering what he'd done for
his FidoNet connection after Net163 closed down. It's good to see
that he's in good hands.

Regarding "parachuting," if it was good enough for Hillary...:-)

I'll hold that in reserve, since I really should be able to handle
this as echo moderator. The nodes in question are linked just fine
for echoes that are already hooked up, but an AreaFix glitch may have
stopped the request from going upstream. (I'm guessing one of the
control files got corrupted, because I've fond memories of that
happening occasionally when I was running a mail hub.) Anyway, now
that one technical problem has been spotted, we'll see how things go.

I dunno? The toughest thing may be generating enough message traffic
to provide a "linking message" that will activate a successful AreaFix
request. ;-) ...Thankfully, "MooseHart" "Guido
Testosteroni" and
"George Dubya" all have messages that are begging for replies.
Since there are also at least three other "regular" MooseChat
participants, I'll guess we'll manage.

I just hope that getting Don linked again will not result in MooseChat
getting swamped with messages. ;-)
