Alexander, at 17:51 on Aug 13 1995, you wrote to Bill Grimsley... AS> How can I write a "function" in the CFG file to copy a message from AS> a Fido Echo to a Local Echo with one key stroke? I seem to have missed AS> the point somewhere in the DOCS on that. I can make it do a single AS> action but not a multiple one. Writing Msged function macros is actually quite easy to do, as long as you approach the problem fairly methodically. AS> Like, "copy this message to LOCAL_INTEREST", by using one of the AS> function keys. I just created the following macro which works fine (tested here), but you'll need to alter it to suit your own configuration... function 6 \0x3200,c,^m,l,^m The delineating commas in the above macro are completely unnecessary, although I prefer leaving them in for readability and ease of debugging. \0x3200 = bring up the "Move" menu (same as Alt-M). c = select "Copy message". ^m = CR, brings up the area-list. l = the only variable (see explanation below). ^m = CR, ends the function and returns to Msged. Assuming that the area into which you want to copy the message is called LOCAL_INTEREST, and bearing in mind that the Msgedsq area-list displays the echos in the same order as you have them in squish.cfg, you must edit your squish.cfg so that this is the first echo listed which begins with the letter "L", as the macro will still copy the message into the first echo in your Msgedsq area-list which begins with "L", even if it's the wrong one. This is the only way it can be done with a single F-key keystroke, and if you're likely to be copying messages into different echos, you'll need to create a macro for each area, and arrange them alphabetically in squish.cfg. AS> As I am using FrontDoor 2.02/NC as my mailer how can I convert, or AS> specify in the CFG file for Msged to use FrontDoors Nodelist. I've had no experience with FD, so can't really help here. However, this is all I have in my msged.cfg which relates to the nodelist... Nodepath \point Nodelist fidonet nodex sysop.ndx AS> Also what is a V7 nodelist.? If it is not to complicated to explain AS> in a few lines. :) Dunno, but I use Fastlist as my nodelist compiler, and it apparently creates V7 nodelists which Binkley happily uses (as does Squish and Msged). AS>> Seeing you talked me into trying it. BG> Nice copout Alex. I merely suggested, YOU actually decided. :) AS> We all need a scapegoat when things start to get wrong. :) True, but I generally blame my ex-wife, even after 18-odd years. :) AS> So, even if you only suggested it, you will be the scapegoat. ;) I'll remember that the next time you want any help with Msged...
