Ham Radio, both in Arkansas, and around the world, lost a valuable operator
on Wednesday, with the passing of Lyle Armstrong, K5VPM, of Little Rock.
Lyle had been involved in Ham Radio for many years. His wife, Betty,
KB5PLQ, just got into the hobby a few years ago. Lyle was also involved in
the Little Rock Chapter of the Diamond State Chorus Barbershop Group, part of
the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet
Singing in America...which he enjoyed about as much as ham radio. Lyle had
also done quite a bit of acting, and had even done radio and television
commercials.
Lyle had some eye surgery recently, then a series of strokes. I had
attended high school with their daughter, Elizabeth Anne, who has been
married several years...all of them were a joy to be around.
At this typing, funeral arrangements are pending. I'll post them as soon as
possible. I'm sure all concerned send their condolences, thoughts, and
prayers, to the Armstrong family in this time of loss.
73, Lyle...you'll be missed.
