That reminded me.. He sent me a DVD with backups for most of his software in case of loss and Paintshop Pro was on that. It is version 7.. TR>If Corel (now that they bought out Jasc) make a *nix version of it, I may >very well switch my main OS... will run MS-VS under vmware, but that will >be the app that turns the tide for me... though I've been eying the new >MacBook Pro's ... What changes would (did) Jasc bring about ? It's been quite a while since I tried Corel Draw. I did a few years back but for most of what I do it's too complex to fight with.. probably the same with PsP although I haven't used it since version 3. I don't do that much fancy stuff. For whole image manipulation or simple cropping I can do almost everything I need with Irfan View. It has lots of special effects and image adjusting options built in. To actually modify small parts of images I use the final release of NeoPaint for DOS, of all things.. For the most part those two small programs can do everything I need to do with images.. Must be hold-overs from my small hard disk years.. I don't run software just because it's available to me. Bigger isn't necessarily better. I use MS Works 4 even though I have 3 versions of MS Office (97, 2000, XP) sitting here. These days I have a 160 gig Seagate hard drive but after 15 months it's still 90% empty.. Speaking of.. I hear Seagate just bought Maxtor, who not so long ago bought Quantum.. Pretty soon there won't be any choices left. It surprised me a bit that Seagate is still as big as it is. You don't hear the name nearly as often as you do Maxtor or Western Digital yet the $1.9 Billion they bought Maxtor for is less than 1/4 of Seagates annual earnings. --- þ SLMR Rob þ Hardware: The part you kick þ þ PDQWK 2.52 #17 --- þ BgNet 1.0á12 ÷ Capitol City Online * KY * 502/8758938 v34 * cco.ath.cx --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32* Origin: Joe's Computer & BBS -= joesbbs.synchro.net =- (1:275/412) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 34/999 90/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 222/2 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 SEEN-BY: 320/119 393/68 396/45 633/104 260 267 690/682 734 712/848 800/432 SEEN-BY: 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 275/412 400 100 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
