Dallas Hinton to Anton Shepelev:
AS>> In accordance with the Agreement for Foo Services,
AS>> CompanyOne (C1) and CompanyTwo (C2) agree to the
AS>> termination of the 55, 56, 57, 58, 59 Foo Solution
AS>> Agreement between CompanyTwo and CompanyOne ("the
AS>> Agreement") pursuant to CompanyTwo's decision effective
AS>> 2023.02.24.
DH> The termination will take effect ("become effective") on
DH> 2023.2.24.
I failed to understand it, having thought that `effective'
modified `dicision' rather than `termination' -- a word an
hundred miles back up the road.
AH> This is a fairly standard legal phrase meaning "will
AH> take effect on". All legal documents appear to be
AH> written in the most obtuse language possible. I think it
AH> so that everything is open to interpretation, thus
AH> leaving the door open for future (profitable)
AH> litigation!!
Yeah, an esoteric langugage of the legal mafia, to keep the
laymen at a distance. Thank you for the answer.
