Hi Jerry,
Take this for what it's worth- A tripod will give
you more problems with the size mirror you are working.
I found collapsable saw horses that gave a 36 inch working
height at the Home Depot. a sheet of plywood ripped to 2 by 4 foot lengths,
then glued and screwed together makes a S O L I D work table. Then a couple
of 2 by 6 planks and a bunch of cinder blocks placed on the lower level of
the saw horse. Finally, 2 by 2s under the work table that sits in a channel
on the top of the horses. Total cost about $50, stays put while you work,
and can be broken down in minutes.
Richard uses a 2 by 12 plank on two pails, that is even cheaper
and easier to pick up and put away (another John Dobson idea). My lower
back doesn't take to working at this angle-YMMV.

Do the tripod bench designs work? I can't see a 55 gallon barrel full of
water in my living room. I have some 4x4 that I could build a tripod out
of.
And I could put that 50 pound tile tool I made and never used in the base as
ballast.
Clear skies, Jerry
