Charles,
I love my Telrad.
The rings are 4, 2 and 1/2 degrees. Since you can see around the Telrad,
when looking through it, it is very easy to point within 1/2 degree of any
visual object.
I use Sky Atlas 2000.0 and purchased plastic Telrad circles scaled to the
chart. It makes star hopping much easier and faster.
In addition to the Telrad I would recommend a finder scope with a field of
view of around 4 degrees.
With the Telrad, finder scope and main telescope aligned you can find
almost anything without computer control.
The Telrad is lower profile than the Rigel, so it doesn't have to be
removed for transport.
