³ What's neat though, a friend loaded Fedora Core 4 (or whatever the latest
³ is) and Wine totally worked with probably 90% of the programs he loaded.
³ Literally using Wine he executed the Setup.exe and it installed with no
³ problems! I'm talking about Red Alert 2, MS Word and Excel 2000, and a ton
³ of utils we use up at work. I haven't tried this on Ubuntu yet, but I hope
³ it's there too -- if not I'll be downloading it :)

After screwing around with the latest wine today, I can say a couple of
things about it:

(1) it is still way, way behind Windows 98, which is itself many years old.
It couldn't run any of the few Windows programs that I actually use anymore.
Having things "almost" or "sort of" work does not cut
it, in my book; and

(2) I have to wonder why your friend was loading linux when it sounds like
he'd be better off sticking with windows, if he's wanting to run windows
office, windows games, etc.

Mike
