subject: Cables & Stuff ???

A very good afternoon to you John
Op 14 Feb 97 09:03 you wrote something about *Cables & Stuff ???*...

Not in conductivity and noise, but there is a diffrence....high frequencies
tend to travel almost on the surface of a wire....this is called 'skin
effect'. With multistrand wire you really have more surface....Also, a
multistrand wire has slightly less inductance.
Only very long cables reveal this effect....on short wires you won't notice
it.
Grinnn...of course a multistrand wire is easier to coil up when you're
packing your gear ;)
JA> Would rewiring the inside of an amp with a bigger and better

Not really....after all, the length of those wires are just a few
inches...nothing to worry about..

Some people say that they can hear the diffrence between gold (plated)
terminals and regular ones....I never could..... :)
On the other hand....two different types of metal jointed together could
generate a thermocouple-effect....it could generate a small DC voltage so if
you are a High-end adept....only use gold-plated connectors on link-cables if
the connectors on your equipment are gold plated.....we are now talking about
things that are almost psycho-acoustic of origin so don't take me too serious
on this one....
