And she is correct. DVD-RWs are erasable. DVD are only destroyable.

Most DVRs have large hard drives. You can get the with over 1TB now. That
will hold hundreds of TV shows before having to delete. Plus, most DVRs now
also have a DVD+/-R/RW built in. Especially if you build your own from an
old unused PC. That is if you really want to keep the show for a long time.

Why would anyone want to move their DVR around? There is no need to do
that. If you have your system set up properly, you can have your DVR in one
place and send the video to whatever monitor you want. If you want to share
your recorded videos with your friends, then invite them over to view it.
