I didn't think Xmit levels on an Austel approved modem could get any
higher than -10. The highest receive level I can remember has been -24.

Wow sure was some variance. That actually surprises me as I would
have thought that one courier to another would connect consistently
at 28800 and above especially given David's normally good line.

Oh so true :)

BTW as an aside, that BBS I was having so much trouble with (Quantum Leap)
I've been logging on pretty regularly lately (at 14400 of course) just
to look at the system stats. From what I could see only _one_ person
connected at speeds greater than 21600 and stayed connected for longer
than one minute. nearly all of the connects were either 14400 or
19200. Same chap rings every day asnd manages a consistent 28800
connect but he has been the only one in the past week out of nearly 200
callers. Doesn't make me feel so bad anymore as I think the problem
must be more his end than mine.

Cheers
Mike
