That was one frustrating thing regarding it being a laptop. This laptop is new enough that it didn't have a floppy drive. I did try booting from the Live CD & manually restoring some files, but I either didn't do it right, or it didn't matter. > What is happening, is your boot program hasn't loaded the newest kernel, > making it the default. I thought about that, sort of. I did think enough to check the boot menu (by hitting ESC within so many seconds before it defaults) and it actually had both the old & new listed. I tried both, figuring that if it knew enough to list both, it had loaded both. But maybe it did not. After that, I tried the manual restore. Funny thing, even with the reinstall, it did not install the same way the second time, and certain things that had worked fine the first time were a pain the second time. Of course, being pretty irate probably didn't help me remember things too good. ;-) Mike --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ All Aboard!!! --- þ BgNet 1.0á12 ÷ Capitol City Online * KY * 502/8758938 v34 * cco.ath.cx --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32* Origin: Joe's Computer & BBS -= joesbbs.synchro.net =- (1:275/412) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 34/999 90/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 222/2 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 SEEN-BY: 320/119 393/68 396/45 633/104 260 267 690/682 734 712/848 800/432 SEEN-BY: 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 275/412 400 100 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
