TY> Does allowing auto e-mail notification of e- TY> mails that have been read or deleted make one TY> more vulnerable to an e-mail virus attack? Is TY> there any know virus that would take advantage TY> of this feature? Consider these few lines as for what they are; wild guessing. I don't know for sure exactly how Outlook handle "automatic email-notification", but I assume that automatic means there never appears a dialog asking if you really want to send back a notification. In that case it's a excelent way for any spammer to figure out not only how frequently you read your mail but also what client you use for reading your mail. If a trojan would alter the content of such notification, you could end up with a nasty backdoor that identifies itself to its master whenever there is mail sent to you. Besides, would there ever be a better way for a spammer to figure out not only if your address is valid but also how frequent you read your own mail? / Pierre ---* Origin: Braindead (2:203/159.16) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 203/100 0 20/11 106/1 379/1 633/267 |
