subject: Yaesu 901 repair

Rob...Many thanks for the response to my query on the 901 Yaesu repair.
The rig belongs to a friend of mine in Ottawa, Ken, VE3CV. He tripped to
Toronto in hopes an old friend of his, a repair tech with a store, would have
the smarts to do a "professional" job on the rig. I don't think Ken lifted
the hood on it. The store manager didn't offer encouragement...suggested he
take up a Yaesu offer of $200. trade on a newer rig. No chance of that. Seems
like present day techs are transistor and boards replacement types..no time
or knowledge to prod around in an older rig.
I'll pass along ur info to Ken. Expect I'll be called on to pick up the rig
in Toronto and will be in Ottawa abt 2nd week of December so can deliver to
him. If nothing else works out, maybe I'll look inside it myself.
Agn, thanks. Vy 73 de Jim VE3PLP.
