You've got a real good point there, no one forced 2000 people to congregate
in front of WalMart before the store even opened. I still think management
could have been better prepared. I imagine, but don't know for a fact, that
some movies' openings have lines that start days before the tickets will go
on sale. The 4th (5th and 6th) Star Wars movies had lines like that, but if
there were any stampedes happened they didn't make the news. Theaters know
that some movies will attract large crowds and plan for it.
