In Illinois there's a city called Rockford. Part of it is known as 'little
Italy', the rest is full of Swedes and Switzers. Little Italy used to
visit Freeport on a regular basis, starting fights and generally making
trouble for everyone they ran into. I was about 15 when somebody got the
bright idea to form a trap for those guys. When they showed up to a
private party that was by invitation only, they were surrounded by a bunch
of big guys, football players, mostly of German and Polock decent. That
fight ended the 'little Italy' forays into Freeport.

Joy lives in the fight, in the attempt, in the suffering involved, not in
the victory itself.
