RW> Almost. This month's Texas Monthly has an article about a guy who lives RW> on the western edge of the Big Bend National Park. The pictures RW> accompanying that article would remind you of Monument Valley. Those RW> that he has taken from his airplane are spectacular. What's the name of the article? I have a link to that site. RW> Yeah, but when your mouth is in your hat, everyone knows it's a line of RW> BS. That's partially what she meant. (-: RW> My driveway in Poway was lined with evergreens. I deliberately trimmed RW> them so that there was plenty of room to park under them, removing all of RW> the lower branches for that. That also allowed the grass to grow under RW> them too. The one in the front yard was about 60 feet tall and I trimmed RW> the lower branches so kids wouldn't be climbing on my roof. It was almost impossible to get grass to grow beneath a pine tree forest. If I wanted to do any climbing, I could go next door to the City of Abita Springs Fire Tower (another story, but short) and climb to the top. I got permission from the dudes in the office first and politely asked if I had to furnish my own parachute. The resulting expression on their collective faces was priceless. Anyway, the short story is that where I lived, I had a Covington phone number, a Mandeville address and the City of Abita Springs next door. So, any time I stepped off the property, I was in another town, depending on which direction I stepped. RW> My neighbor has two figs growing in her front yard. She lets the figs go RW> to seed...figs can be grown in the deserts of CA, but the ground west of RW> the coastal mountains are made up of decomposed granite, so nothing grows RW> unless you plant it in a hole bigger and deeper than the root ball. Even RW> then, the trees that do grow in that stuff fall over easily because the RW> tap root can't penetrate it. That's a shame and seems like a waste of time trying to plant something there.
