AUGUST ABOLINS spoke thusly to: DICK ROEBELT
AA>AA>The revenge part intriged me. Wouldn't your action of
AA>AA>"revenge" be equal justification for your target to bring
AA>AA>charges against *you* ?!
AA> DR> I bet it would...should I be caught. But, as a tough old
AA> DR> bird of a man who I respect and admire once told
AA> DR> me....self-help is usually the best help...and sometimes you
AA> DR> just GOTTA get their attention.
AA>Are you an attorney?
Do you mean am I a lawyer?....the answer is no.
AA> I am still quite stunned to hear that coming from an attorney.
I doubt it. I am never stunned by *anything* I hear coming from
the mouth of a lawyer.
AA>BUT.. it's good to know who's side you are more compasionate
AA>about.
Only my side. There aren't any other sides to concern me.
AA> DR> And make sure you have lots of "small" business owners
AA> DR> on the jury.
AA>Hmmm.. The concept of "designed" juries was talked about during
AA>the famous OJ trial, and I not surprised that tailored juries are
AA>still the norm in other cases.
One always has to look for an edge. The defense always wants
someone who can be sympathetic and empathetic.
Having just one small business person who knows how much office
machinery and supplies cost and who would stand firm against his
fellow jurors is all anyone would need. It wouldn't be hard to
convince a jury of those type of folks to send a "message" to scoff-
law's who would nickle and dime you to death with unsolicited faxes.
not to mention tying up the line while you are waiting for an
important fax from a paying client.
AA> DR> For a little insight on the "self-help" angle look what AOL
AA> DR> did to the king of spam, Cyber Promotions.
AA>How long ago was that?
   Fairly recently.
AA> I recall a public newsgroup apology posting in can.infohighway
AA>from Cyber Promotions on something about their claims that
AA>people where faking messages from CyberPromotions. But that is
AA>all. What did AOL do, just ban their "services" through AOL?
It was quit complicated but in essence they sent all the messages
back and choked CP's provider to a virtual standstill. The provider
then dumped CP. A lawsuit is still pending.
