Hi, All.
After 3 months of intense research, reading, and thinking, I have revived
and revised my web site on refractive telescope optics. The URL is as
follows:
http://alice.as.arizona.edu/~rogerc
I have removed virtually all references to current manufacturers, and have
expunged all my misguided speculations about their products.
Instead, I have tried to keep everything sober, plausible, and in my
own designs--buildable. I have also added a lot of bibliography to support
my claims and arguments. There is a strong emphasis on the documented
history of refractor design, and much bibliography is of necessity in
German.
I am keen to hear feedback, preferably of a constructive nature. I
understand that the HTML source text is in disarray. That comes from using
Netscape Composer and employing the "pretty print" reformator.
Over time, I will reduce the mess to order. Chiefly the disarray
appears as misplaced punctuation and umlauted letters separated from the
rest of their words.
There are other infelicities of format due to my use of ZEMAX. In time I
will render everything as consistent as I can and put all the graphs on a
large enough scale so that the lettering can be read.
Mainly right now, I am hoping for feedback concerning how effective the
presentation is and what remains unclear. But, of course, some people will
want to say negative things just because that's who they are.
On the other hand, if some of you actually LIKE the site, PLEASE LET ME
KNOW, since the nattering nabobs of negativity will be eager to puff and
spew at me.
Cheers and thanks,
Roger
