You were wise beyond your years.

RW> I find places like that around here too. Their owners already know what
RW> they've got and their prices reflect that. Down by SA, I found a yard

RW> the rust fairy to finish them off.

It's really a shame. One of the vehicles he has that I would have wanted
at one time was a VW bus (picture on the way). Sort of like the VW truck
with glass all around. I wanted to buy it off him for a reason I don't
recall, and he told me the engine needed a part, but never got around to
changing it. That bus was in mint condition at the time and I would have
helped him work on it.

RW> There's a piece that looks like a large umbrella over the valve. To
RW> adjust the lash, you have to remove the cam follower and take that

I was right. I didn't want to know.

RW> My neighbor across the street in Poway used to work on those in his
RW> driveway. Some of the engineering on that car is whacko...

But they do look like 1930s gangster cars, don't they?

RW> That was Dryfuss' initition to join a car club. The same guys who robbed
RW> the pin-ball machine when they visited Dryfuss' college fund
RW> contributors.

The pinball machine part I remember, but the rest is vague and probably
because I kept looking for the blonde in the T-Bird, whose name I didn't
know at the time. I was distracted. Blondes do that to me.

RW> It was a boring town, so we had to liven it up a bit. :o)

Nothing like New Orleans then.

RW> I wish I had something like that in my Z28...it's getting to hard to get
RW> into these days.

You know how tall I am. If my feet were at my knees, I wouldn't have a
problem getting in and out of the Mark VIII. (-:

RW> Most of it is picked early so it can make the trip from South America
RW> without spoiling. I'd love to have some cantelope, but it's all too green
RW> for me. I don't buy bananas after the mesquitos get active...the banana
RW> affects your system so your smelll attracts them to you.

Where I used to buy bananas, the store stopped buying Chiquita brand and
got another kind instead. The quality isn't there.

RW>RN> Quadrajet.

RW> I like those carbs...everyone else hates them.

When I was taking a free class at the GM Training Center in N.O., one of
the things we were required to do was strip a quadrajet and put it back
together. Wasn't difficult at all and he was really good at his job. It
was strange that the instructor's surname was the same as mine.

Roger
