The May 19,1997 issue of FORBES magazine has an informative article
entitled "Rebellions on the reservations". Examples of the
difficulties with the BIA and social-economic efforts are detailed.
On another note, ceremonial ground near Seminole, Oklahoma (Pumpkin
Center) was re-dedicated? on May 4. Individuals conducting the ceremony
included Vernon Longie, Lakota Sioux, Sara Gustafason, Osage, John
Kinouts, Caddo, and Jack Thorpe,Sac-Fox. The propery, including the
burial grounds, had been unavailable to use in this respectful
fashion for several decades. It is now owned by members of the
Baha'i Faith.
