BA> Replying to a message of Bob Klahn to Tom Walker:

BK>>>> You are correct. And Obama satisfied that requirement by
BK>>>> suspending Walpin, with pay, for the 30 days the notice
 BK>>>> requires.

TW>>> ONLY after back peddiling and recinding the Get out is ONE
 TW>>> HOUR order. ---

BK>> Do you have a source for that? What I found was a "resign or be
BK>> fired" with one hour to decide.

BK>> Like I said, if you are going to fire someone, you fire them,
BK>> you don't give them 30 days to sit around being disgruntled.

BA> Which is why most employers have terminated employees
BA> escorted off the premises at the time of termination.

I watched that happen to my former boss. I thought it was an
outrage how they did it. I thought he should have been fired
long ago, but they way they did it was wrong. The fired him to
replace him with a younger fellow. Age discrimination. That and
they never gave him any reason, any critique of his performance,
or any way to satisfy whatever problems they had.

Then they went through and fired every other older manager and
replaced them with young managers. Why they didn't get sued up
the ass I will never figure out.

Oh, the firing went all the way up to the CEO. And every upper
level replacement they brought in was a Mormon. Try that one on
 for size.

BA> That might not hold for those being laid off. When CSO had
BA> its massive layoffs in 2004 most employees had at least 30
BA> days warning - and a very generous severance package (I
BA> drew full pay for 4.5 months after leaving and half pay for
 BA> 4.5 months after that).

With layoffs the assumption is it's not because of any fault, or
disapproval of the employees. That and if the opportunity occurs
they can, and likely will, be called back. It's not a true
 firing.

Though, with a severance packet it's more a permanent dismissal,
but again, not due to any fault on the part of the employee.
