Licencing agreements are like orifices and opinions.. everyone has them..

Personally I usually prefer to retain my Copyright even on my Freeware.

Why should I give away my intellectual property when some BDU can use my
stuff for nothing anyway? From my experience it's usually the user who isn't
talented enough to write the stuff themselves who pushes for freebies. I've
never met a doctor or a lawyer who gives their time for nothing and being a
professional developer, my time is just as valuable. And what's in your
wallet? Do you go to work for nothing and donate your gas and time so
someone else can eat while your children go hungry?

I wasn't born yesterday and my stuff has been all over the internet and
fidonet etc since the '80's so I have earned some room to talk here.

I do agree however that when the best interests of all of humanity or
national security are affected that the greater good needs to be served, but
all software should not be expected to be free. The lazy should not get
something for nothing and if governments want to purchase OS's and
applications with tax dollars and give them away for free that is great (go
make a "land claim") but don't expect me to subsidize you unless
I chose to.

Have a nice day!
