Hey, did ya hear the news? Jade Hancock was caught in one of
the holosuites giving The Doctor a "cygwin"

JH>i've actually had a little dealing with cdrecord and mkisofs...
It does the trick where the software that came w/ the drive wouldn't.
I had to pick up some 8-10meg of updates and patches just to get it
to even recognize the burner it came w/ and even then it did a crappy
job.
Cdrecord and the rest of the stuff w/ it work w/o a problem.
JH>i wouldn't want to have to deal with it on a general basis. :)
There is a gui front-end for them, it's freeware as well. You just
select the options you need, give it the filename of the iso to
make or burn and off it goes.
I've since made a couple of batchfiles for working w/ cdrecord, etc
where all I have to do to burn a cd for ex is just give it the iso
name, how fast to write, and the size of the fifo buffer.
burn cdimage.iso 4 32m
means burn the iso at 4x and use 32meg of system ram to support the
wimpy 1.8meg buffer the drive has. Never had a buffer underrun yet
using cdrecord where as adaptec/roxio couldn't keep from it at 4x.
Regards,
The Doctor
